Five million views of The Maccabeats' Candlelight have been seen on YouTube! Entertaining and spirited, this headlining group uses only their voices to sing instruments and solos of today’s greatest hits. Three hours of festival activities include rides, games, stilt walkers, nature hiking and live music, with The Maccabeats performing at 2:30. Bring a blanket for lawn seating. A musical celebration for the whole family.

The Witches of Lublin

A gripping “radio play” performed with live actors and live music. This is the story of three 18th century Jewish daughters who were the best Klezmer musicians in Poland. At Passover time with the threat of expulsion, the women are ordered to save the town by performing at a name-day celebration for the Count’s son. Based on true history, the “radio play” is currently being broadcast nationally on NPR. A premiere theatrical concert reading.

Gifted choreographer John Malashock and company’s moving and inspiring dance suite of an artist who gains hope and creativity through his own courage and power. Malashock blends Jewish folklore and lush physicality in his dancers’ thrilling festival performances.

A vibrant new musical, For Honor celebrates the lives, loves, and dreams of the brave young men and women of the Warsaw Ghetto Resistance. With only smuggled weapons, they held off the Germans longer than France and Poland. A world premiere concert staging of selections from the musical.

The 10th Annual Klezmer Summit
featuring Klezmer, Flamenco Dance from Spain, Jewish Favorites, plus Free Knishes

San Diego’s most popular Klezmer celebration has much more than FREE KNISHES! A three-part program feature’s Yale Strom and Hot P’stromi with traditional Klezmer. Flamenco dancer Lakshmi Basile from Sevilla, Spain, and Souls on Fire perform a musical journey of Spanish and Ladino culture with the passion of flamenco, Sephardic poetry, and Moorish rhythms from Spain’s Golden Age. San Diego Jewish Men's Choir, under the direction of Ruth Lopez-Yañez, features soaring harmonies and medleys of beloved Jewish favorites from long ago and today.

But his passion spirals into a lifelong obsession when a New York publisher reveals its own plans for one of the most enduring documents of the 20th century. Compulsion has been performed at Yale REP, Berkeley REP, and New York’s Public Theatre. A staged reading.

Our popular Klezmer celebration heads north! This three-part program features the world class clarinet virtuoso Alexander Gourevitch and his band Freilachs. Gourevitch delights audiences with his soulful playing that expresses his Jewish musical soul through his entire body! A soloist with the Orquesta de Baja and son of a Russian Klezmer player, Gourevitch is an unforgettable performer. Also in the program is San Diego’s own Klezmer treasure, Yale Strom, a filmmaker, author, musician, and composer who has discovered Klezmer treasures with travels throughout Eastern Europe, will be joined by popular vocalist Elizabeth Schwartz, Spanish guitarist Fred Benedetti, bass master Jeff Pekaric, plus Tripp Sprague and special guest Steve Torok. Also performing is San Diego Jewish Men’s Choir, under the direction of Ruth Lopez-Yañez, featuring soaring harmonies and medleys of beloved Jewish favorites from long ago and today.
